Provocation, astonishment, revelation of the unknown, perceived image, as sound and pure forms in plastic. As per my previous artwork exhibited at the last 56. Venice Biennale 2015, in the National Guatemala Pavilion, as invited artist, with my artwork “CONTEMPORARY-FLOWER…!” I wanted to represent the era of fiction and the fake perception. A plastic flower that takes its shape from an everyday object which, because of its use, no one would ever dream to show. Modern man would claim success and good life without being
very often not even worthy to appreciate it. Plastics have taken the place of our expressiveness, even of our wonderful nature, plants and flowers that are the basis of life on Earth, precious sorces of oxigen and fragrances, are replaced by an artificial nature, devoid of a real life. “Making contemporary art means to belong to their own time, art is the expression of deeper thought in the most sensitive way” (Albert Einstein). I firmly believe that in the world we are taking away space to life, and that’s an epocal fact, contemporay art should be
art created in the present, therefore, after “Artist’s shit” by Piero Manzoni and “Fountain” (the urinal) by Marcel Duchamp, could not miss my “Contemporary -flower…!”, a toilet brush upside down, mimicking a flower in a vase with fake grass similar to the lawn (which is the flattering of the current community, where it emerges just show-offs while not possessing quality specifications and requirements), all made with plasticsmaterials, placed on a rotating basis to 360° (making the artwork kinetics) as if it were an
object or value trofy, to simbolize the “carousel of life”, to be added to the list of works of art more transgressive and representative of the harsh reality in which we are all forced to survive. We began to change the nature, ending with the alter our body, last element of our individuality, allowing the shape and its end would take over.
